Go back to Life at The Watermark

Poetry Reading by Resident Irene Backalenick

The Watermark at 3030 Park will be holding a poetry reading for resident Irene Backalenick. The presentation will be held on Sunday, March 19th, at 3:00pm for those that wish to attend. The event is free of charge and open to the public. However, reservations are required. To RSVP, please contact The Watermark at 1-203-502-7593 by March 17th.

Despite many years of writing for the media and arts, Backalenick penned her first poem two years ago, at the age of 93, after losing her husband and daughter.

“After moving to The Watermark, poetry became an outlet where I could step back and evaluate my memories, relationships, and life in general,” said Backalenick. “It has allowed me to be brutally honest while learning more about myself, too.”

During the event, Backalenick will read from her collection, “Rueful Reflections,” released in January of 2017.
